Holiday 2017 Wednesday June 7th to July 5th. [children stay in pairs for two weeks]
The charity, Chernobyl Children's Lifeline, cares for children who are growing up in the area affected by the 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the Ukraine. Over 70% of the fallout landed on Belarus.
The charity organises respite breaks to Great Britain, giving the children a chance to live in a "clean" environment and eat uncontaminated food for a month. Since 1998 over 150 children from Belarus have benefited from this opportunity in the Malvern area.
This year 10 children with a leader will be coming to Malvern. There will be 6 girls and 4 boys. The children are 10/11 years old and stay in pairs for periods of two or four weeks with a host family. Activities are organised for the group on 3-5 days each week, and sometimes in the evenings. Outside of those times the children enjoy spending time with their host as part of the family. A leader/translator travels with the children and is on hand if help is needed.
If you can host two children for either 2 or 4 weeks please contact Dorothy Knights at firstname.lastname@example.org, or telephone 01684 561358.
