Sunday 3rd May 2020

Dear friends,

"I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture."
(The Message John 10:9)

Welcome to Sunday with the Priory Community, and today we focus on 'Jesus, the Good Shepherd'). Jonny will be reflecting on this passage. Today marks our first communion online. If you are a Priory member and able to join Rita and me with bread and wine you will be most welcome (red wine, or sherry, or soft drink and sliced bread are perfectly acceptable). A video exploring the theology behind this is available.

I am delighted to tell you that Richard Weatherill has been accepted to train as a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM) and should begin training in the autumn. Sue Williams, who is an LLM, has been invited by the PCC to be based here. Sue comes from Hereford Diocese and she needs to transfer, which will take some time, but, hopefully, when the lockdown is lifted we will be able to announce that she is officially an LLM in our parish. Sue has written a little bit about herself in the May Priory Magazine, which is available here. The front page talks about our hard-working PALs and features photos of them all.

I have been especially moved by the love and care shown by our local care home workers to residents at this difficult and challenging time. In many places, staff members are living in motor homes or caravans on-site, so they don't spread the virus. This is a tremendous act of giving. Hopefully, after this is all over, we will all value more the work that care home workers do.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support the Priory prayerfully and financially during the lockdown. Our Custos, James, is checking and cleaning the building ready for our return. Early in the mornings, when I take my exercise, I pass the Priory, and it does look magnificent as the sun rises.

I know that these are very challenging times for us all. If you are struggling and we can do anything to help, do, please, let us know. You can leave a message for the Church Manager on 07860 873566.

Keep safe and well and every blessing,
