Intercessions - 04/10

Heavenly Father we come to you in humility, trusting in your promise that our prayer will be heard and that you have many good gifts for us and for others – so

Let us pray for the World, For peace among the nations and an end to warfare and oppression. Strengthen the love of righteousness and freedom among all peoples and bring the whole world under the power of your loving reign. Especially we pray for cooperation between the nations in trade negotiations and in the development of medicines and vaccines to help limit the effects and spread of Covid 19.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for this country, for Elizabeth our Queen and all who exercise political power. We ask for them, special gifts of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and strength, that they may consider all questions calmly and act wisely and promptly, upholding what is right and shunning what is wrong, acting justly – especially for the poor and oppressed – so that your will may be done.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for emotional and mental strength for ourselves and those we know who are challenged by fear and concern at this difficult time. We remember those who have financial worries. Those working in our schools who cannot always keep social distance and do not always feel protected. For students and others in locked down areas who cannot exercise their usual freedoms. Lord, help us to work together, to support each other and rely on your strength.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for those who are sick. Lord bring relief from suffering and your comfort and peace. Strengthen our Health Service and give wisdom and discernment to doctors and health professionals who are engaged in preventative work and looking for early signs of disease – we pray that funding and resources will be made available for screening programmes again.

Lord, hear our prayer.

We give thanks for Jonny's ordination in the Priory last week and we pray for him as he starts his Priestly ministry. Lord be with us as a worshipping community here in Malvern. Direct our paths as we prepare for our Annual Meeting in a few week's time. We pray for Rod, the PCC and all who lead in the Priory. May new people come forward to take on important roles and responsibilities. Draw us close together with the other churches in Malvern and bless the work of Churches Together here.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all who are approaching the end of their life here on earth. And we remember all who are bereaved and missing someone they loved very much. May funerals taking place at this time (although small) be special to those who attend, and those who may follow on live streaming, and may there soon be a time when we can come together to celebrate weddings and funerals and other special occasions without worries of infection.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son Jesus, our Lord. Amen
