Newsletter - 05/04

Dear Priory friends,

Welcome to Great Malvern Priory online. We are glad you have stopped by on Palm Sunday. So what do we celebrate today?

According to all four Gospels, Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem and, in celebration, people laid down their cloaks and small branches of trees in front of him, singing part of Psalm 118: 25–26:

‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord.’

We hope you will join us for our Service for Sunday which can be found under the ‘Online Worship’ tab at the top of the Great Malvern Priory homepage.

Morning Prayer at 9.00am each weekday, on Zoom, has grown from 2 to 6 people, and there is space for more folk. Zoom is easy to use. You register on Zoom.us and then sit by your computer, check your emails, and you will find one which will provide a link to the meeting. The place to start is to express your interest to join to Jonny or me via email.

Chris Shepherd is doing three talks for Holy Week, and these will be available on the website. We thank Chris for the work and prayer she has put into this. Christine Wells and Katherine Little are producing a service for all on Good Friday - do join in.

I do not know if you remember the amaryllis I showed the children a while back in church. It was growing very slowly, despite all my attention. After the service, it was put in the Parish office in Church House and it has grown rapidly. It is now in full bloom with glorious red trumpet flowers. Mary succeeded where I failed!

A big thank you from me to our PALs team who are making sure Priory members are ok. Home Group leaders have been checking up too, which is excellent. Bishop John and Archdeacon Robert have been in touch with me and expressed their love to us all.

So keep warm, keep safe and keep in touch with us. We will rejoice when we can return to the Priory, but until then, we are discovering lots of new ways to Praise the Lord!

Bless you all,

Rod
