Intercessions - 28/06

As we strive to welcome God into our hearts and lives, let us pray to Him to hear our concerns for His Church, His creation and His people.

Generous God, Your love bids us welcome. Give to Your Church an open heart, that, as You welcome us, we as Your Kingdom people would also welcome others in Your name. We pray for the ministry of welcome at the Priory, that we may all soon feel safe to meet again in person and welcome others into Your presence. We pray for those who were due to be ordained priest and deacon around this time that the delay may be used positively and not be a cause of frustration. We pray especially for our curate, Jonny, and give thanks for his ministry among us. Unite, we pray, Your gathered people into a true fellowship of Your Son.

Lord in Your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Generous God, Your Son gave a model of simple charity. Transform our lives with willing compassion that we can show the welcome of Your love through the support of those in need. We pray for those living through the pandemic in fear of domestic abuse. Give them the knowledge of Your love and support them in their trauma. And we pray too for those facing the threat of redundancy or lost livelihoods. May the hungry find food shared and the thirsty be revived.

Lord in Your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Generous God, break down the barriers that divide communities and increase hostilities. Extend the hands of friendship to soften hardened hearts. We pray for those who feel victimised because of their race, disability or background. And we pray too that we may all learn to be tolerant and celebrate the diversity which you have created. Remove all that diminishes people's worth.

Lord in Your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Generous God, pour out Your love and compassion on all who cry 'How long, O Lord'. We pray for the sick and suffering whether in mind, body or spirit.  And we pray too for their carers. We give thanks for the calling of medical researchers and pray that You would direct their endeavours. Shine Your light into the darkness.

Lord in Your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

Generous God, receive with mercy and forgiveness all who have died. Comfort those who grieve and bring us to share in the reward of the righteous.

Lord in Your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

O God, mercifully receive these intercessions which we have offered to You through our Lord Jesus Christ; and with our prayers accept also our lives, which, refreshed by Your welcome for us, we dedicate to You, for Your service and for the glory of Your holy name.

Amen.
