An evening of delight

Wow! What a talented bunch!

If you weren’t there, you missed something special at the Priory last night. The Junior Choristers entertained an enthusiastic audience of all ages, showcasing their amazing talents, both musical and dramatic.

For some performers, it was their first Priory concert, and they were warmly welcomed, for others, the audience celebrated the progress they’d made since their last performance.

Compered by the Director of Music, Piers Maxim, those assembled enjoyed solos in voice, clarinet, piano, flute, oboe, electric guitar and trumpet. The performances were rounded off with a rousing rendition of Michael Hurd’s ‘Swingin’ Sampson’, where the Choristers were joined by Deputy Custos, Robert Payne, as narrator.

Rod thanked everyone - the performers for their dedication to practice and the three wonderful accompanists. Then it was on to the very popular raffle, with prizes galore, which sandwiched the fish and chip supper. With the crinkling of chip paper, supper was unwrapped. Chatter ceased and a near hush descended as everyone enjoyed very generous portions. Audience and performers replete, the raffle continued, with much joviality.

Wayward chips were swept up, bags taken to be recycled, tables folded and chairs moved back into place and the Priory returned to normal. Not even the slightest whiff of fish and chips greeted the 8am BCP Congregation fewer than 12 hours later.

Thank you to everyone for such an enjoyable evening. The concert raises funds to support the Annual Junior Choristers Camp.
