A whole new world opened up this morning…

A senior chorister ‘whites’ a probationer as he is admitted to the Priory Choir

…for the six young people who formally entered the Priory Choir as Choristers, life will never be the same again. Once a Chorister, always a Chorister.

The skills that Choristers pick up, without even noticing, will last them a lifetime - working as part of a team, concentration, commitment, an ear for detail, being adaptable, thinking on their feet…and that’s before the richness, depth and joy that praising God through glorious music gives is thrown in. These are skills that’ll grace UCAS applications and CVs in the years to come.

A busy Advent and Christmas beckons for Choristers both new and old. There’s something extra-Christmassy about Christmas when you sing in a choir, helping to lead worship. Covid has taught us that Christmas without singing with others is just not the same.

So ‘Welcome’ to you all. Congratulations and thank you for becoming the latest in a choral tradition that spans the centuries.
