Cyber Monday leads to Busy Tuesday at the Priory Festival of Nativities
What a busy morning!
The Priory hosted two school groups on Tuesday, who came to learn about the monastic history of the building. Faith, Rod and Adam brought the fascinating Priory past to life for the excited and interested youngsters.
But it wasn’t ‘just’ two school visits...BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester sent an outside broadcast team to record an interview with Rachel H, who has installed the Festival of Nativities around the church.
The schoolchildren also toured the Nativities and two children were interviewed by the BBC, as well. The item is due to be broadcast on Sunday 4 December in the morning show. It’ll be ‘listen again’ for those of us in church at that time!
If you haven’t yet dropped by to see the Festival of Nativities, put it on your Advent ‘must do’ list right now! From tiny nativities that would fit in the palm of your hand, to classic Israeli olive-wood and a German rotating pyramid nativity, the 21 sets on display from around the world help us to think differently about the birth of Christ.
If you’d like to make your own, then all the materials are available for you to make an ‘Upcycled Nativity’ in the children’s area (based on a card tray that used to hold tins of tomatoes and beans). Or join us for Messy Church on 11th December, where children and carers/parents can make their very own Gingerbread Nativity, complete with chocolate, icing and lots and lots of sugar sprinkles. No charge and no need to book, see you there at the Lyttleton Rooms in the Priory Grounds 3-5pm.
The Festival of Nativities runs until 11th December.
