Messy Church Light Party

Decorating the porch for the Light Party - just one of the 27 Messy Church volunteers.

All Hallows Eve was celebrated in style in the Priory, with the annual Messy Church Light Party.

Around 50 excited children and their families filled the Priory with light and laughter, playing light-themed games, pass the pumpkin and musical statues. Then it was time for singing and ‘Marching’… with tea lights (battery-powered, for safety!)…‘In the Light of God’.

Peter told us about the Light of Christ, illustrated with wonderful pictures of the universe. At tea-time there was a wonderful spread of hot dogs, crisps, tray-bakes and fruit.

Jonny, our curate, blessed everyone. The going-home goody bags were tucked into waterproofs and held under umbrellas as party-goers stepped out into a gas-lit autumnal deluge.

See you at the next Messy Church! It’s Messy Christmas with the Gingerbread Nativity. Create your own take-home Nativity scene with gingerbread, chocolate, icing and lots and lots of sprinkles.

Get into the real spirit of Christmas on 11th December, Lyttelton Rooms, 3-5pm.
