Creation prepares to move

Scaffolding in St Anne's Chapel Malvern Priory

Internal scaffolding in St Anne’s Chapel in preparation for the removal of the Creation window.

Preparations are advanced for the removal of the Creation window for conservation by the York Glaziers Trust.

A substantial internal scaffold has been erected in St Anne’s Chapel, adjacent to the Creation window, which will allow access for the team of skilled conservators from the York Glaziers Trust.

They will survey the world-class, unique, mediaeval stained glass before removing it with meticulous care and transporting it to York to be conserved.

It is expected that the Creation Window will be returned during 2023 and re- installed in front of an environmental protective glass screen, following specialist repairs to the stonework adjacent to the window opening.

It’s wonderful to see progress happening following the Friends’ fundraising appeal. Many thanks to Headley Trust and the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass, The Friends of Malvern Priory and individual donors who have made this possible.
