Priory reopens
Spot on schedule, the Priory has re-opened to visitors. Well-behaved dogs on leads are most welcome, too.
During the works to level the nave floor the eastern end of the Priory is open during normal opening times. It may be a little noisier than usual from time to time, but it’s fascinating to watch the skilled workers through the windows in the hoardings as they remove the existing floor.
Once the floor is removed, heating pipes will be laid which will provide underfloor heating for the new level floor, to keep visitors and congregations toasty-warm. The underfloor heating system is designed to be compatible with an air-source heat pump, which will be connected as soon as funds are raised…we’re taking steps to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Do drop in and check out what’s going on. There’s a new Welcome Leaflet for visitors and there’s plenty to see - from the finest English Mediaeval stained glass in any parish church, to the amazing Mediaeval tiles and monks misericords.
