The bells

Just as the monks’ lives were governed by bells, so is Lifepath. Wherever a Lifepath activity is taking place, it ends with a bell ringing and the phrase ‘Teach me your ways, Lord’ to which all respond ‘show me good paths’.

As the lunch break came to an end, so all the handbells, gathered from across Lifepath were carried back their locations, the tinkling and clanging bringing holiday memories to the volunteers sitting outside, enjoying the sunshine. ‘Switzerland!’ said one to another.

It was another creative day. At Mediaeval Tiles, the children and teachers learnt how the beautiful tiles were created here on site at Malvern Priory, and had a go at impressing a pattern onto clay. Then it was time to design and decorate their own tile, ready to take home as a souvenir. Amazing, colourful and intricate patterns rested on the choir stalls to dry, ready to be carefully wrapped for the homeward journey.

The refreshments team kept everyone fed and watered, as ever, with a smile, a word of encouragement and a slice of cake.

At the end of the day, as the last school waved their farewells, the volunteers gathered in the Priory to reflect and pray. Just one last day of Lifepath 24 to go.
