‘You are worth it’
‘Think American’ was Rod’s message at Altogether Worship this morning.
Why? Because Americans and Canadians celebrate St Valentine’s Day differently. It’s not exclusive one-to-one love that they celebrate, but love for friends and families, too. A bit more like God’s love - all encompassing and inescapable. God knows that each and every one of us is worth it…so everyone was encouraged to turn to those near them and share the good news ‘You are worth it’. All are welcome. Really welcome here at the Priory.
Today’s worship was themed ‘Valentine’s, Chocolate and God’s Love’ and the chocolate challenges for both adults and children were embraced enthusiastically by both age groups.
Children deftly managed to transfer chocolate buttons on spoons into a pot, and then, even more swiftly, into their mouths. Adults were set an audio quiz - to guess the name of the artist singing a love song. Nat King Cole, ‘The Supremes’ and ‘10CC’ were identified before the lyrics even began. Hands shot into the air as three eagle-eared (?) congregation-members-turned-contestants won a chocolate each.
But there was even more good news; a chocolate for every single person there. ‘Just pick it up as you leave at the end of the service’ said Rod ‘and then… give it to someone else! Share it, as God shares his love for everyone.’
