Pentecost

‘When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…’ (Acts 2 1-4).

Wind…tongues of fire…how to you bring that to life for the children, safely, inside the Priory?

Bubbles! Bubble-guns to be exact, much to the delight of both the children, the congregation and the Bishop of Dudley who preached and presided, inspired and encouraged at Holy Communion today.

Armed with bubble guns, three youngsters showered the congregation, and the Bishop, with drifts of glistening symbols of that first Pentecost, reminding us all that the Holy Spirit is at work in each one of us today.

After the service, Bishop Martin joined many of the congregation for a convivial Parish Lunch at the Foley Arms.

Meanwhile back at the Priory several volunteers guided a large tour party of visitors from Bromsgrove and their guests from twin-town Saint-Sauveur-Lendelin, Normandy. The guides brought the fascinating history of the Priory to life in both French and in English.

As the tour party left, so the church filled with the excitement of Messy Church, with children exploring the theme ‘Small is Great’ - the Parable of the Mustard Seed.

Choral Evensong and Youth Badminton rounded off another normal, spirit-filled, extraordinary day at our living Church.
