Cleaning on high

‘Do you ever find £20 notes up there?’ asked a curious bystander as the intrepid folk from Amphlett’s ascended the ladder to the North Aisle roof this morning.

This was literally taking cleaning to new heights, as the regular roof and gutter clean took place. High winds and rain (surely not…it’s summer after all) deliver a constant deposit of leaves, twigs and cones from the trees in the Priory churchyard and the occasional crisp packet and chocolate wrapper, too, onto the roofs.

Carefully swept into sacks, the debris was lowered to the ground by the intrepid workers ensuring that the gutters won’t overflow and the historic fabric of the Priory will be protected.

And if you’re wondering about the £20 notes, the answer was ‘no’!
