Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Great Malvern Priory is renowned for many things including its historic architecture, its music and its warm welcome. However, not many people are aware of the wide range of exercise opportunities available at Church Cleaning.
Stretching high to window ledges, squeezing into the gap below the pulpit, bending low behind cupboards and radiators, balancing on ladders, enthusiastic vacuuming and determined polishing were just a few of the activities enjoyed by a merry band of volunteers this morning.
Just a Cuppa Warm Space was running simultaneously, providing the workforce with a free-flowing supply of tea, coffee and all-important biscuits and Christmas cake to revive them.
Above the chorus of vacuum cleaners, new and old members of the congregation chatted and called words of encouragement to each other…and the volunteer Guide took a group of visitors on one of the more unusual Guided Tours. ‘It’s so lovely to see everyone having such fun…and so many of you’ said a passing tourist as chancel glass was polished, misericords dusted and floors vacuumed and scrubbed.
So if you fancy joining the Great Malvern Priory Cleaning Gym the next ‘class’ will probably be held in May…come along…it’s free, friendly and fun.
