Front line evangelism

Lions, hyaenas, leopards and just a spear for protection…the welcoming audience in the Priory were captivated by Bishop Daniel Qampicha’s tales of life in Marsabit, NE Kenya.

Interviewed by the former Bishop of Marsabit, Rob Martin, Qampicha shared his journey of faith. Starting when Elizabeth, a local woman shared the Good News with him at primary school, his vocation led to training in Norway and then on to the United States.

He returned home with funding from a supporter to build the Hope School, which is now one of the most successful schools in Kenya.

Married to Safia, who heads up the ICU in Marsabit Hospital, they have four children. Safia is also President of the Marsabit Mothers’ Union which carries out vital work supporting the sick, lonely, those who can no longer attend church, and prisoners. Crucial, too, is the MU work to educate girls against FGM, which is common in the area.

The climate in Marsabit often cycles between drought and flooding, with dire effects upon the population, not least causing unrest. Brokering lasting peace is a constant struggle for the peacemakers.

So, as Christ’s church here in Malvern, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ living in Marsabit and for a safe journey home for Qampicha and Safia, to their family and friends.

Thank you for bringing your world to life for us.
