God save the King

Through torrential rain and low cloud, over 100 people gathered to be part of the King’s Coronation Big Screen Livestream, joyfully welcomed by the Bellringers, as the music of the bells rang into the Malvern murk.

Steaming was a feature of the event, as both those gathered and the urn steamed gently throughout the service, as King Charles III was anointed King and Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Sustained by hot drinks, cake and savoury goodies, the audience of all ages joined in the hymns and prayers, standing for the National Anthem and giving thanks for the life of service of our new King, reflecting that of Jesus.

As the Archbishop of Canterbury shared in his sermon
‘All are open to the transforming love of God’

The skill, artistry and endurance of the musicians at Westminster Abbey was central to the Coronation Service; the Priory will ring once more with glorious music for the Festal Evensong at 5.30 this evening, preceded by the Bellringers, Ringing for the King, from 4.30pm.

Do come along this evening, and to our services tomorrow, too, when we’ll enjoy a Bring and Share lunch after the 10.30am Parish Communion.
