Unexpected Visitors

Rod was delighted to welcome two very special visitors to Morning Prayer today, just hours before the Coronation.

Everyone is welcome to Morning Prayer - Royalty or not - to mark the start of a new day in worship, with a psalm, Old and New Testament readings, prayers from the Priory and Diocesan Prayer Diaries and most importantly, the prayer requests left by visitors.

Following the Common Worship liturgy, the service ends with the Lord’s Prayer. And, as ‘their majesties’ experienced this morning, it’s quite informal and there’s often an impromptu discussion after the Bible readings.

We’re expecting to see more of our visitors, tomorrow at the Big Screen Live Stream of the Coronation, which will be heralded by the Priory Bellringers who will ring 10 Priory Tower Bells in the sequence known as ‘Queen’s’ and then, by calling the changes, move to the ‘King’s’ sequence (from 1,3,5,7,9,2,4,6,8,10 to 9,7,5,3,1,2,4,6,8,10).

There’s bellringing ahead of the Festal Evensong at 5.30pm, which includes the World Premiere of Maxim’s Coronation Anthem ‘The King Shall Rejoice’ sung by the massed Priory Choirs and local RSCM Choirs.
