Lent begins

…a time of reflection, and on Ash Wednesday particularly, remembering our human vulnerability.

As ash crosses were marked onto the foreheads of the congregation, a prayer was said for each, exhorted to turn from sin.

In the words from the Gospel of Matthew from the Book of Common Prayer service -

’Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt and where thieves do not break through or steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.’ Matthew 6 19-21 King James Version

Parish Communion with imposition of ashes will also be celebrated at 7.30 this evening at the Priory.
