Christingle light in the darkness

Christingle candles flickering, children’s eyes shining bright, the beautiful words and music of Silent Night sung softly to the accompaniment of the organ. The hectic build up to Christmas stopped…and the birth of Jesus was remembered by young and older alike.

Rod, the vicar, explained the meaning of the Christingle with the help of a superhero new to many in the congregation - SuperChristingleWoman. Dressed in a giant inflatable orange with a candle on her head she encouraged all to dance and clap to Slade’s classic Christmas song.

A party game ‘cut the flour cake’ and a flour ‘snow dome’ reminded everyone how Jesus was born to shine a light into an untidy, chaotic world.

How can we shine Jesus’ light in our lives today?
