What’s Mediaeval and smells of oranges?

Great Malvern Priory!

No, it wasn’t a foray into Priory Marmalade production (now there’s an idea…), it was the Christingle Assembly Line.

As the wonderful smell of oranges greeted Priory visitors, so did the happy chatter of volunteers of all ages as they assembled hundreds of Christingles ready for the services on 23rd and 24th December.

Carefully wrapping the end of a candle in foil, they secured it in a hole excavated at the top of the orange. Then the red ribbon was wrapped around the circumference (are you keeping up?!) and finally cocktail sticks with sweets skewered on to them were poked into the orange. Then on to the next one, until 11 boxes were filled with completed Christingles.

It’s not just oranges that have been prepared - Super Christingle Woman has had a dress rehearsal and Adam the curate immersed himself enthusiastically in preparations for the talk.

The Christingle services are at 4pm (please be seated by 3.45pm). The Christmas Eve service has no more free tickets available, but the service on 23rd is unticketed, so do come along.
