Priory broadcasts to the…
‘A Time Capsule. We did one at my last Church’ said Rod, the vicar at a committee meeting.
And so a seed was sown… but that seed would have to grow pretty fast if it was going to bear fruit, as floor progress is so rapid. From idea to ‘planting’ of the Capsule, there was just two weeks to play with!
Two weeks to encapsulate all that is ‘Priory 2024’ for the future. Fortunately, Priory folk responded rapidly and filling the capsule was no problem at all - more on that tomorrow.
But today, two intrepid volunteers travelled across the flooded floodplain of the Teme and Severn, to Worcester to share the exciting news of progress on the Nave Floor Levelling Project and the Time Capsule, with BBC Hereford and Worcester Radio presenter Malcolm Boyden.
Guided down the weirdly acoustically dead corridor, at BBC H+W studios, the as yet unfilled Time Capsule carried carefully in their hands, the Priory Two were ushered into a studio and introduced to Malcolm.
Neil told Malcolm and the listeners about the importance of the project to enable the Priory to become more accessible to all. Then Malcolm asked Philippa about the capsule and its contents and plans for its placing. He placed the first item into the Time Capsule, making a satisfying metallic ‘clunk’ as the red ‘ASB Holy Communion Rite A Service Booklet’ from sometime between1980-2000, which had been found under the floor, slid to the bottom of the container.
Now safely closed with silicone seals and numerous bolts, the stainless steel Time Capsule will be placed under the floor tomorrow - watch this Blog for the latest news.
And if you haven’t yet visited, do come along and see the Priory as you’ll never have seen it before - there are viewing windows through the hoardings and the east end is fully open to visitors.
