Walking on air to lower the floor

What goes up must come down!

And here at the Priory, Rita Corke, Vicar’s wife, extraordinaire, has grasped Isaac Newton’s saying in at least two interpretations…

The nave floor is hazardous - when the pews were removed in the 1860s, the 4 inch high plinths they stood on were left up. Ever since that time worshippers and visitors have been tripping up over them and falling down off them.

So, for safety’s sake, they’re being removedthe plinths must come down…and while we’re at it, environmentally-friendly underfloor heating will be installed, too. But at a cost.

Never shy of a challenge, Rita’s taking to the skies, fearlessly (well, possibly fearlessly…) wing walking to raise funds for this important project.

Fixed to the plane, above the propellor rotating at over 700mph, she’ll be flown up above the Gloucestershire countryside from Rendcomb Aerodrome at speeds of up to 100mph, before, we are assured, landing safely down again.

Could you sponsor Rita, our gravity-defying fundraiser and make the Priory a safer place for everyone?
