We’ve run out of music!

Come and Sing Evensong at Great Malvern Priory

But there was no need to worry…

Such was the popularity of today’s Come and Sing Evensong, the Choir’s Librarian and his assistant were kept busy, returning several times to the shelves for more copies of Stanford’s Canticles in B flat, Maxim’s ‘Chorister’s Prayer’, Lole’s ‘We love the place’ and Smith’s Responses.

Singers had travelled from afar, from Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Gloucester, Worcester and Trier. Yes, Trier, in SW Germany; a visitor who just happened to be visiting the Priory was welcomed into the Come and Sing Choir, for the full Book of Common Prayer Evensong Choral service; a rather different holiday experience!

Visitors sat listening as nearly 50 voices rehearsed, with glorious music echoing into the ancient space. With the rehearsal over, conversation flowed over tea and cake before a wonderful act of worship followed, uplifting all.
