Plenty to see
‘We’ve entered the Twenty-first Century’ smiled one volunteer to another as they stood in front of one of the two new display screens.
Brand new to St Giles’ chapel is a rolling slideshow explaining what’s going on in the Priory right now. So if you’re wondering why we’re levelling the floor, how we’re funding it, what we’re planning to do once it’s level and how you can help support the project, do come along and take a look. There are comfortable chairs, to rest weary legs as you view.
And if you’d like to find out about recent Priory projects, including conserving the mediaeval Creation window, there’s another slideshow in St Anne’s Chapel. It also shows some of the hidden gems of the magnificent Priory building.
The workers from Reynolds Conservation Ltd cut a new low window in the hoardings, which is ideal for visitors who use a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and youngsters, too. Rita (the Priory’s premier Wing Walking fundraiser and Vicar’s wife), tested out the new window, with another visitor, and both declared it to be excellent.
If that wasn’t enough, there are also new poster displays on the hoardings around the floor works, including explanations of the discoveries made under the floor and the various activities that continue to go on in the living church that is the Priory.
Do come along and have a look for yourself.
