Spirits undampened

Great Malvern Priory Prodigal Son rehearsal

Priory spirit was much in evidence today

As the Malvern summer rain lashed against the Priory windows, the warm welcome of the Just a Cuppa team was particularly valued this morning.

Drenched regulars and visitors alike enjoyed hot drinks, biscuits (some rather nice lemon ones today) and conversation in St Giles’ Chapel, serenaded by members of the Oxford and District Organists Association.

After a brief intro and demonstration from Piers, our Director of Music, Bach, Elgar, Durufle (a fine rendition of Fugue sur le nom d’Alain) and much more gave a real lift to the morning, with visitors stopping to listen in awe to the magnificent Priory organ. Our ODOA guests were then moving on to Nicholson and Co, organ builders, Little Malvern Priory and St Mary Magdalene, Twyning.

No sooner had the final notes of the organ died away, than the Priory thespians started rehearsing a revival of ‘The Prodigal Son’, ready for tomorrow’s 10.30 Altogether Worship service. Full of joy and laughter, Rod’s retelling of Jesus’ poignant parable promises to be a treat.

Do come along if you can, you’ll be really welcome.
